Vertical boreholes
Vertical boreholes need less space. As vertical boreholes have to be made by qualified drilling companies, they normally cause higher development costs than ground loops.
While ground loops only have to be reported to the water supply division, the vertical boreholes have to be officially approved.
For vertical boreholes, the planning and execution has to be made by a certified (seal of approvement) company.
If ground is chosen as heat source, it offers nearly constant temperatures troughout the year. Therefore, the heat pump unit has a high coefficient of performance and a low energy consumption.
Brine/water heat pumps are normally in monovalent operation.
